However, it is important to understand that for many families, the quality of windows and doors in a new home is not a high priority. Many growing families on a limited budget feel that a larger home is more important - and therefore a more economical window and door package would be the better decision.

There are a wide array of window styles - double hung, casement, awning, and sliders. There are round top windows, clerestory, Palladian, octagon, and many other customized type window units. Most window companies have thousands of standard sized windows to choose from.

There is also a wide selection of entry type doors - a standard 3' entry door, 6' and 8' sliding doors, atrium doors, french doors, and many other types to choose from.

The style of the home often dictates the style of windows and doors to be used. Contemporary homes traditionally use casement, sliding or awning windows. Traditional and colonial style homes usually use double hung and casement windows with grilles.
